Six Men are gearing up for the drive of their life to help raise money for Tavistock Round Table charities.

Simon Windsor, Damon Hicks, Neil Worth, Neal Taynton-Young, Tim Baxter and Rayston Hackney will drive three 'bangers' as part of the Barcelona or Bust annual banger rally.

The event will see the men and their vehicles cross the channel and drive down through France, Andorra and Spain before arriving in the Catalan capital in just three days.

All vehicles taking part in the rally must have been bought for a mere £350, and the teams have been working hard to prepare their three cars for the starting line.

Simon said: 'Because there isn't a balloon fiesta in Tavistock this year we decided we would take part in another event to try and raise a decent amount to hand out to people in the Tavistock area.

'We heard about Barcelona or Bust and just thought that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and had to take part.

'None of us are mechanics by trade, but we have some mechanical knowledge, and Damon is in the RAF, so we're hoping his technical knowledge will keep us going on the road.'

The teams are still seeking sponsorship, and are offering panels of their vehicles up for people to sponsor.

Driving a 1993 BMW, Simon said: 'It's an absolute bucket, but we're tidying it up and hope to raise lots of money with it.'
