A KELLY BRAY couple delivered their own baby on Friday night while their two other children were sound asleep upstairs.

Baby Eva Jago was not going to wait for the midwife to arrive and little over an hour from when mother Becky started 'having twinges' she came out in just one push, shot across the floor and into the arms of her father, Ben.

'I was not even sure I was in labour,' said Becky, 27. 'It felt like Braxton Hicks contractions but when they were every three minutes, Ben phoned the midwife, who said she was in Polperro and would be 45 minutes.'

'I just knew she would not get there in time because by now I could feel the baby's head. I said to Ben to get the sheet and the towels out.

'I tried to cross my legs to stop the burning sensation but then I thought if I just push once it might relieve it and we would have a bit more time. But with one push the baby shot out and Ben caught her and scooped her up into a towel.'

Twenty minutes later the midwife arrived, cut the umbilical cord and they all enjoyed a cup of tea.

Baby Eva may have arrived in a whirlwind at 11.17pm but the couple's other children Joe, seven and Amy, five were unaware their little sister had been born until the next morning.

Eva weighed in at a healthy 6lbs 3ozs.

She certainly made an entrance but Eva, who was a day late, is one chilled out baby, according to her parents: 'She is amazing, very contented and so quiet — I even have to wake her up to feed her,' said Becky.
