A NEUROLOGIST who has treated many West Devon patients at a clinic at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, has scooped a national award for this work.

Dr Stuart Weatherby, consultant neurologist for the hospital's headache clinic team was nominated by a patient for the annual 'Migraine Healthcare Awards' and won the 'best healthcare professional' category.

Joanna Hamilton-Colclough, the director of Migraine Action, said: 'It is important to recognise the huge difference that healthcare professionals like Dr Weatherby can make to people with migraine. Without the right support migraine can have an immense impact on a person's personal and professional life.'

Dr Weatherby, who has led the headache clinic at the hospital since 2004, said: 'I am delighted to have been nominated for the award and to know that the team and I have made such a difference. I feel very fortunate to work with such a talented group of people.'
