IN this friendly North Tawton took on a good South Molton side and were pleased to be up by 3-0 after only five minutes with a penalty by David Grimes.
South Molton were quick to respond with a penalty.
A North Tawton lineout five metres out saw a clever move when the ball was sent wide dragging the South Molton defence across.
The ball was flipped back inside for winger forward Richard Nye to surge over for an unconverted try.
South Molton's forwards began to dominate and North Tawton were lucky to turn around at the interval 8-3 up.
South Molton continued their domination until North Tawton turned the tide, getting more of the ball up front.
North Tawton were unable to penetrate the defence and became selfish, not allowing the game to flow.
Their only reward was when a good back row move saw wing forward Kevin Avery go blind and feed Richard Jackson following up strongly for a well-worked try.
South Molton came back with a free flowing passage of play to score in the corner, but it was not enough.

TO their great credit South Molton turned up with only eight players, so the sides were balanced both with 12 apiece
Scorers for North Tawton were Fred Bolt (3 tries), Martin Friggins (2), Joe Fewings (2) and Stuart Moffat and Addie Pearce one each, both their first in the club. Captain Joe Fewings converted eight to leave the second team in good spirits.
