Blundell?s School 1st XI 0

THE first ten minutes belonged to Blundells, as they put pressure on the Kelly defence, but with Will Grainger as sound as ever in goal, the home side weathered the storm and started to produce threatening moves down the right.

Right wing Rouven Faasch had the better of his marker on several occasions, putting the Blundells defence under pressure.

Kelly?s spirit was exemplified by the workrate of Nick Boot-Handford on the right of midfield and the assurance of captain Will Davis.

With five minutes to go and the game locked at 0-0, Chris Anderson raced through on goal and was brought down by the Blundells keeper. Tom Unwin stepped up to convert the ensuing penalty stroke.

KELLY, captained by Sam Twaites, knew this was to be a real test of the new formation they had been coached to play.

The first half saw wave after wave of Kelly attacking play. At the other end, Kelly, with Doug Willetts thwarted much of the Blundells wing play.

The boys came out after the break and within six minutes they scored from Sam Twaites. A top of the D shot left the Blundells goalkeeper with little chance.

The second goal, scored by Ollie Richards, was a near post flick in from a Nathan Probert cross.

Goals three and four again came from well-practised set pieces. Jedwab fed by Twaites scored a superb goal from the top of the D. Twaites again at the top of the D struck a hard reverse stick shot past the keeper.
