Okehampton U15s 19 Sidmouth U15s 7 OKEHAMPTON continued their excellent run of form with this closely contested victory. The opening exchanges showed this would be a tight encounter with both defences holding up well. The first real chance came with Callum Ausden making a good break out wide, but Sidmouth put in an excellent try-saving tackle to keep him out. Okehampton slowly started to gain an advantage as they put pressure on Sidmouth at the set-pieces, notably with Merrick Kirby disrupting much of their lineout ball. The pressure told as Ausden crashed over for a try on his debut. The second half allowed Okehampton to make a number of changes from a strong bench and they started to dominate. Huw Draper?s determined run from a short penalty was unstoppable and with a Kevin Dennis conversion Okehampton started to look comfortable. A kick through and chase gave Jamie Stevens a chance to score on his debut but the bounce of the ball defied him. Stevens made amends a few minutes later with a cut back and strong run to the line for Okehampton?s third try which Dennis converted. The last quarter became scrappy as penalties and injuries disrupted the flow of the game. Okehampton struggled to keep their concentration and Sidmouth scored a well deserved try. Another excellent team performance with the bonus of some new faces providing strength in depth will hopefully be good for the rest of the season.
