FULFIL your dreams ? that was the message from transatlantic rower Debra Veal, who visited Kelly College sixth form students last week to tell them of her experiences.

Debra rowed 3,000 miles solo across the Atlantic from Tenerife to Barbados, the journey taking her three-and-a-half months.

She told the students how her husband, Andrew, was taken ill after eight weeks and had to abandon the journey, and of the 18 hours work a day she had to endure to keep moving forward.

She said one of the most important aspects of her experiences was to exceed her own and other people?s expectations and that with the right attitude, anything was possible.

Debra finished her journey on January 26 ? since then she has written a book about her experiences and completed the longest canoe race in Canada.
