THE?Kris Barras Band will be thrilling the audience tonight (October 1) at The Wharf, Tavistock with the soul wrenching melodies and blistering guitar techniques that have been winning this band audiences worldwide for the last 13 years.
The band’s mix of foot stomping riffs and catchy tunes make them one of the ‘must see’ blues bands of 2016.
Inspired by his father at the early age of only six- years-old, Kris was already making an appearance on stage before turning ten. He has since gone on to spend more than 20 years thrilling audiences throughout the globe playing live.
The UK-based guitarist has extensive experience touring in various bands, throughout the UK, Europe and USA, as both a solo-artist and session musician.
A published author who has written many guitar technique columns, books and instructional DVDs, Kris has also been a featured lecturer at the distinguished Academy of Music and Sound. Kris currently writes a guitar technique column for Blues Matters magazine.
The band has released two albums — their self-titled debut album in March 2015 and the latest release, Lucky 13 in April 2016. The second album has been a much larger success, reaching number two in the Amazon Blues Charts and number three in the iTunes charts. The album has also been voted ‘pick of the month’ by the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association.
Kris, who lives in Torquay, is backed by three musicians who are Will Beavis on drums, Matt Vowels on keys and Ricky Mitchell on bass guitar.
Support will come from Cornwall blues rockers Blacktop Deluxe, a 4-piece who made a name for themselves with powerful performances of their original and atmospheric blues rock material. Their music has been described as ‘signature brand’ and guitar driven rocking blues, a reputation that has allowed them to share stages with the likes of Larry Miller, Robin Trower, Wishbone Ash and Focus.
