A NUMBER of events have been lined up at Buckland Monachorum Village Hall this month.

There will be a watercolour art demonstration by artist Richard Mabey at the village hall market and coffee shop this Saturday, March 9, from 10am to noon. He will be painting some village sketches which will be raffled off at the end of the morning. The Village Market and Coffee Shop is held on the second Saturday of each month and along with this there will be stalls selling local gifts and produce.

In the evening, the hall's quiz night makes a welcome return with quizmaster Jim Knight. Teams of up to six can enter at £2 a head. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start and guests are welcome to bring their own refreshments.

Later in the month railway historian and photographer Bernard Mills will be presenting an illustrated talk entitled 'Return to Tavistock' about the former southern Railway line through Tavistock on March 16 at the village hall from 7.30pm.

Bernard worked at Tavistock Station for many years and using his extensive collection of photographs, will take a look at the history of this popular and well used line.
