PUPILS from Whitchurch Primary School held their very own original art work sale recently, to raise funds for art and science equipment.
Organised by the Whitchurch School Association, each pupil produced a piece of art work which was framed and displayed in the school hall, with subjects varying from vibrant flowers to pop-art style self portraits.
So far more than £494 has been raised from the sale of the art work.
Prizes for excellence were awarded to two pupils, Elena Watson in key stage one, ages four to seven, and Arun Caines in key stage two, ages seven to eleven.
Judging the pieces was local artist Meg Beable, who specialises in textile art and has a studio in Buckland Monachorum.
She brought along examples of her work for the children to experience.
The prizes were donated by Dr Ann Cummins of Abbey Mead Dental Practice who organised the event.
Frames for the pictures were sourced from Dartmoor Photographic and display boards loaned by Helen Thewlis of Trident Exhibitions.
