AS part of its series of art exhibitions, the Art Department at Kelly College is currently showing work by the 21 Group, open from 10am to 5pm until November 30.
The 21 Group, founded in 1967, is one of the oldest exhibiting groups in Devon. It consists of never more than 21 members, most of whom are professional artists and many of whom are, or have been, art teachers. The group?s base is in Totnes, where it exhibits every year, as well as holding a second annual exhibition in different venues as far afield as France.
On show in the current exhibition at Kelly are 46 pictures covering a wide range of painting mediums - oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, pastel, etching and monoprint.
Each member of the group has a unique and distinctive way of working, and while the exhibition individually presents these different images, it succeeds in blending them into an interesting show.
l THE dramatic production from the Kelly College Drama Group this term is Peter Shaffer?s classic farce, Black Comedy.
Take an engaged couple eager to impress, a German millionaire, flambuoyant neighbour, formidable father, unexpected visitors, the lights fusing ? and you have a recipe for chaotic hilarity.
In the play the usual conditions of light and dark are reversed ? when the lights are ?on? we see nothing but darkness, when they are ?off? we see the characters behaving as if the were in a black out. And their behaviour becomes increasingly frenzied and farcical as they blunder about in the ?dark?.
Performances are at Melvin Hall from December 5-7 at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Kelly Enterprises Ltd, Kelly College, Tavistock.
