A CROWD of 200 were entertained at a sunny Fillace Park in Horrabridge on Sunday, as Horrabridge Veterans took on the Plymouth Argyle Veterans in a charity match in aid of Leukaemia Research. Argyle started well and their passing and control was a joy to watch. Horrabridge got back in the game, and midway in the first half Darren Orchard?s left foot strike gave Horrabridge the lead. After the break Argyle pressed forward and Mark Damerell levelled. With the game heading for a draw good finishing by Gordon Nesbit twice towards the end ensured an Argyle win 3-1. Organisers thanked all who helped make it a most satisfying day and the Argyle players who stayed and signed autographs. The match was preceded by a mini soccer match between the club?s under 10s and under 11s. More than £400 and Horrabridge?s Pete Green will present it to the hospital department who have been treating him. The Argyle squad: Rhys Wilmot, Chris Harrison, Gordon Nesbit, John Uzzell, Leigh Cooper, Darren Tallon, Dougie Anderson, Jason Rowbotham, Andy Rogers, Steve Davey, Damien Davey, Mark Rowe and Mark Damerell. l The two sides are line up before the charity match.
