Devon & Exeter League Premier division Okehampton Argyle 1 Feniton 2 ARGYLE slipped deeper into trouble following this home defeat by fellow strugglers Feniton. Both sides found the muddy conditions difficult to adjust to. It was the away side who had the first shots at goal, but found Chris Dearing in goal in good form. Feniton took the lead on the half hour following a goalmouth scramble. The ball was bouncing about in the six yard box, and following a clearance and a consultation between the referee and home linesman, a goal was awarded. Argyle should have levelled the score five minutes before half time when Robbie Miller was brought down in the box and a penalty awarded. Unfortunately a poor spot kick from Stuart Cann saw the Feniton keeper make a fairly easy save to keep the visitors ahead at the break. Argyle pushed forward early in the second half and Feniton can thank their keeper for making one or two outstanding saves to keep their noses in front. But 10 minutes into the second half Argyle deservedly equalised, a corner kick was stabbed in at the far post by Robbie Miller to give the home side some encouragement. However, Okehampton were only on level terms for about five minutes. After the defence failed to clear a corner, a powerful shot, which may have been going over the bar, was palmed up by keeper Gearing. Unfortunately the ball then dropped under the crossbar at the far post and into the net. Feniton hung on to this slender lead until the final whistle, but Argyle will be disappointed not to have salvaged at least a point from this game. Because of the Manchester United and Exeter City Cup tie next Saturday there will be no league programme. The next match will take place on Saturday January 15.
