THE first meeting of Hatherleigh History Society was held in September 1981 and to mark the society?s 25th anniversary, an exhibition of archive material is going on display in the town. It will be held this weekend in the Old Schools on Saturday (August 12) from 3pm to 8pm and on Sunday (August 13) from 2.30pm to 5pm. On Monday, (August 14) members will also be able to see the exhibition prior to their normal meeting at 7pm. And as part of the celebrations, on Monday, September 4, at 7.30pm, the society?s guest speaker will be Anthony Gibson. Although best known for his NFU work, he is also this year?s president of the Devonshire Association.
