STAR of television's Apprentice, Katie Hopkins, visited Shebbear College to meet students from the fifth and sixth forms. Katie outlined the advantages of working in commerce, and told the students: 'Business is hard, business is about great relationships and great ideas, and business can be fun.' Her 20-minute talk was followed by a question and answer session from 60 students. She advised them on selling techniques, presentation and answered questions on her experiences on the Apprentice and I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. Katie summed up her talk: 'You need resilience, passion, tolerance, a good sense of humour and tenacity to follow a solution through to get results.' Head of sixth form Eleanor Bearpark said: 'In these times of stiff competition, our students were thrilled to receive, what they termed, "alternative careers advice" from Katie Hopkins, a lady who is out there thriving in the competitive world. 'She gave them great advice about the importance of standing out among the crowd when applying for jobs or university places.'
