I too have phrases and words that really annoy me (Letters, October 22). 'Released from hospital' when it should be 'discharged' (prisoners get released); 'let me tell you where I'm coming from' (as per Dragons Den!); 'disoriented' for 'disorientated' and the modern habit of pronouncing the letter H as 'haitch' when it should be 'aitch' (Where did that come from?)
My biggest gripe, however, is the apostrophe that people seem to think has to be added to every word ending in 's'.
The worst example I saw recently was a notice of a death where the name was spelt Glady's! That just about 'takes the biscuit'.
