THERE is an opportunity to step back to the era of Pride and Prejudice at a special Regency event being held at Buckland Abbey this month.

On August 20, visitors to the abbey will be transported to the age of elegance with the help of the Renaissance Historical Dance Society (RHDS) and Buckland Abbey's costume group.

The event will include a Jane Austen-style picnic on the lawn, beautiful costumes and great entertainment.  

Budding Mr Darcys and Lizzie Bennetts can learn the finer points of etiquette, try out the most fashionable dances from the era and enjoy a performance of the mythical tale, The Pearls of Poseidon, as well as take the opportunity to chat to the dance and costume groups.

There will be activities for all the family throughout the day, both indoors and out.
