IN response to R D Harper's remarks in last week's Times, I can only add in support that the increase in rents to traders in the Charter Hall is just another nail in the coffin of Okehampton.

We all pay dear, in taxes, for hardly any policing or a police station which is closed after 8pm, the town centre bottlenecked through unnecessary footpath widening, town shops closing frequently and our local pub pulled down to build yet more houses.

Please tell me, what bright ideas are our town council going to come up with next, or more to the point which planet is their next meeting on?
