Dartmoor Gliding Society is inviting people to an open day next month, following the success of a similar event in May.

Responding to demand from people of all ages who attended the gliding society's open day at Brentor Airfield at the beginning of May, club members will hold another one on Saturday, August 25. The open day will be free to enter and will host a variety of family friendly attractions.

Highlights will include fly-pasts by a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire and a Royal Air Force Sea King helicopter.

The aim of the event is to introduce people of all ages to one of the most affordable ways of flying, with the bonus of looking down on some beautiful scenery.

Dozens of reduced-price trial lessons will be offered on a 'first come-come served' basis.

The event will be held at Brentor Airfield from 9.30am.
