THE Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) will hold its 2015 general meeting on Monday, November 30 in the Legion Social Club at 8pm.
The branch meeting is open to all members. It is hoped that this meeting will be well supported by members, thus demonstrating their continued support of the RBL.
Anyone is eligible to join the RBL; service in the Armed Forces is not a pre-requisite. All that is needed is a strong interest in helping with the pursuit of the organisation’s aims, namely to provide welfare assistance to both current and former service personnel and their dependants.
Sadly there is an on-going need for the work of the RBL to provide welfare assistance to an increasing number of veterans, especially those experiencing health problems, both physical and mental. This help has a direct impact on the RBL’s resources. It is essential, therefore, that the RBL enhances public awareness of the help it provides to the men and women who serve, and have served, their country so unselfishly.
The branch meeting will provide details of the activities of the past twelve months and future intentions as well as reports on the accounts and the appointment of branch officers.
Items for consideration and discussion at the meeting should be submitted in writing to the branch secretary by no later than Friday, November 27.
