A LAMERTON resident is about to embark on a 900-mile circular trip from her home village to North Wales and back.

Annie Jefferies (pictured right) is raising much needed funds for the restoration of the church tower in Lamerton.

The two-week trip will boost the efforts which have already been made by the people of Lamerton — almost £25,000 has been raised by local events over the last 18 months.

However, a few more thousand pounds are required by the grant awarding bodies, before the necessary tower work to St Peter's Church can begin.

Annie has been training around the local area over the past few weeks, up and down hills, in rain, wind and occasional sunshine, and hopes that despite being 63 she will manage the arduous terrain of Wales.

If anyone would consider giving a little sponsorship to Annie, it would be gratefully appreciated by the Rev Greg Stanton and the churchwardens in Lamerton.

Greg and Steve Powne from Lydford, will be cycling with Annie on her first day from Lamerton to Tiverton, approximately 50 miles, on May 3. If anyone else would like to join in, they would be most welcome.

Donations should be handed to, or sent to Mike Jefferies, at Church Avenue House, Lamerton. PL19 8RN.
