AN Okehampton woman dedicating her time to promoting body confidence has won a spot in the final of Miss Inspiration UK 2016.
Alexandra Denman, 30, recently won the title of Mrs Devon Inspiration 2015 and will now compete in the national final of Miss Inspiration UK 2016.
It is the second such title Alexandra has won, having been named Mrs Devon Curve 2015 earlier this year. She wants to use her experience to become a motivational speaker and inspire women and girls of all ages and sizes to have confidence in themselves.
She said: ‘It feels amazing to have won a spot in the final. I am on top of the world and brimming with confidence. It means so much to be able to inspire women to do what they love and follow their hearts and dreams.
‘As a plus size woman who used to feel bad about myself to becoming the most confident I have ever been, I feel it is important to spread body confidence and to empower women to feel good about themselves no matter what size they are.
‘Every woman is beautiful, this is what I would like to inspire women with at events. I aim to help women feel confident in their own skin and be comfortable with who they are. I think that as a plus size woman it is important to show people that we are not all the typical stereotype that society portrays us to be.’
Alexandra works for the Devon Recovery Learning Community as a peer trainer running courses for people with mental health problems. While preparing for the grand finale, Alexandra is planning to raise money for Women’s Aid and Mind, two causes close to her heart after a difficult first marriage.
Alexandra is keen to do some promotional work using her title free of charge for businesses or charities at openings, events, carnivals or festivals, etc. Email her on [email protected]
