THE multi-charity Christmas Card Shop was formerly launched by Tavistock town mayor Caroline Keane last week at the United Reformed Church. Cards for Good Causes sells charity cards on behalf of the main UK charities, both national and local. The aim is to offer the widest choice of charity cards and present the charities with as much money as possible from the sale of its cards. Last year, the Tavistock shop alone contributed more than £26,000 to the various charities. This was due to the efforts of more than 200 volunteers who helped out in various ways. This year, the shop has 212 volunteers helping out for the nine-week period, until December 16.
