YOUNG people can have the opportunity to learn all about gun dogs, ferreting and wildfowling at a 'Young Shots Introductory Day' next month, organised by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).

The event, held at Duchy College, Callington. will be held on Saturday, May 11, and will also allow youngsters to have a shotgun lesson with BASC-accredited coaches and a chance to try air rifle shooting. Duchy College will also be showcasing the work of gamekeepers.

David Gervers, BASC's south west regional director, said: "This event builds on the brilliant day that we ran last year with Cornwall Wildfowlers' Association, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved.  Apart from being good fun, this is a great opportunity to try something new in a safe and supervised environment. We are very grateful to Duchy College for hosting the event.'

The day will cost £20 and will run from 9.30am.

It is open to both BASC members and non-members. Places are limited so advanced booking is essential.
