YOUNG Tavistock Athletic Club member Alice Gray raced at the National Biathle Championship held at Salford Quays, Manchester on Sunday and came away with a silver medal.
This event was organised by the Modern Pentathlon Association of Great Britain. Nine year old Alice earned a silver medal in the 10 and under category in her race that consisted of a continuous 500m run followed by a 50m swim inside one of the quays and then a 500m sprint to the finish line.
Needless to say that the swim in the quays without a wetsuit proved too much for some of the competitors with some unable to accept the cold water temperatures.
Alice attends Calstock School and trains at the Tavistock Athletic club, and competes for the Plymouth Leander and Launceston swim clubs.
