Okehampton Columbines 11 Mannamead Thirds 0 THIS was far too comfortable for Okehampton, with Mannamead putting up little resistance, apart from their goalkeeper, who made it as difficult as she could for the Columbines. Alec Collins had an outstanding game in the centre and it was skilful stickwork from her that led to the first goal. Abi Colton also played well at centre half and she drove some excellent balls into the circle, causing the Mannamead defence all kinds of problems. Okehampton always play well as a team when they are allowed to come forward and this match was no exception, as they pushed Mannamead deeper and deeper into defence. Left half Jane Jones battled hard the whole game and scored for Okehampton with well-struck ball from the edge of the circle. Sophie Cunningham, playing her first game for the Columbines first team, made an important contribution at right wing and was rewarded with two well taken goals on the right post. There was some skilful hockey played by Okehampton, particularly when playing the ball out of defence, and this was another good team performance. l On Saturday Okehampton have their annual coffee morning in the church hall, and do not play again until March 24, when they are at home to top of the league Mannamead 11.
