THREE students from Okehampton College entered examples of their work in the 'Young Technologist of the Year' competition held by Rotary District 1170, which covers most of Devon, last week.

Tasmin Woodland, Samantha Jelley and Mark Butler had been successful in the local round of the competition held by Okehampton Rotary Club.

There were 42 entries which varied from a cage-bird hospital to a mini-digger transporter. The Okehampton entries were a caravan burglar alarm, a CD storage system and a portable bicycle stand respectively.

Although unsuccessful at this stage, the Okehampton entries attracted great attention from the judges and visitors. In fact, the caravan alarm created the most attention in the room as it blasted off at frequent intervals as its capabilities were tried!
