A TEAM of parents are asking for help from the community with their efforts to revamp Okehampton College's sixth form block.

Fiona Carlyon, Michelle and Steve Batsone and Lori and Ben Hyams have approached the college after doing some work there after visiting for the sixth form open day.

Fiona said: 'We want to ensure that when our sons and daughters attend next year they will have somewhere modern, practical and comfortable to work, revise and relax in.

'Studies have shown that children who study at school are more likely to focus and succeed in their exams. We hope to give the students, both current and future, this advantage in life.'

The team has recruited more parents and students, who are all giving their time and services for free to complete the project.

Exeter University has donated some furniture to help as part of its sustainability programme, and Reddaways Removals have offered free storage for the furniture. The team's next goal is to raise funds to redecorate, renovate existing furniture and provide blinds.
