A WEST Devon organisation with the aim of supporting a more sustainable community is hosting an open forum next month after its well attended discussion in September.

Transition Tavistock is a non profit organisation of people from Tavistock and the surrounding parishes.

On September 29 the group gave a showing of Franny Armstrong's film the 'Age of Stupid' to an audience of more than 70 people in Tavistock Parish Rooms.

A well attended and lively discussion followed the film. The audience offered their views on actions that they and others could take locally to make a difference.

These included the importance of community notice boards throughout the area to help people stay connected with local initiatives; the need for improved availability of public transport in some areas; and opportunities for sharing gardens between people who might not be able to look after them and others who could use them for productive growing space.

The ideas have been recorded for further development into actionable initiatives, where possible, at a discussion forum at the Tavistock Parish Rooms on Sunday, November 15 at 2pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend with their ideas. Guest speakers will be Viv Gooding and Mac McCartney from Embercombe.
