SHEBBEAR stores is having a £10,000 revamp with help from the Countryside Agency.
The agency has awarded a £5,000 community services grant towards the scheme which will pay for new frontage, floor, shelving, counter, fridge and lighting at the stores, which also houses the post office.
Keith and Anne Horwell, who took over the stores 18 months ago, have managed to keep the premises open and are working around the builders.
Mr Horwell said despite reports of businesses like this struggling, the village shop in Shebbear was thriving and in a week's time parishioners would see the fruits of all the labours.
