PRIM Raf Theatre, Callington, will be bringing a diverse and interesting programme of songs, poetry and two plays relating to the history of World War One, with three dates in October at its theatre in Biscombes Lane.
Under the direction of Anthony Nelson, the prelude includes popular songs and poetry of the era and two one-act plays written by Lynn Brittney.
'After the Ball is Over', set in the the summer of 1914, explores the insight into the unfolding events of a journey of horror, tragedy and ultimately love. In contrast 'Dig for Diggers' is set in 2009, as the War Grave Commission exhumes a mass grave. The play recounts the story of a fictional 'first body' in the shape of Mick Feeney — a stubborn Australian miner from Ballarat, who volunteered even though he was in his late 30s.
The performances will take place from October 16 to 18, with a matinee performance on the 18th.
Tickets are on sale at Noakes, Habermehl and Kerr in Fore Street, Callington for £7 and £5 for under 16s.
