Westcountry Housing's latest affordable housing scheme is to provide local people with 17 new homes for rent and shared ownership at Grenville Meadows, Tavistock.
Mayor of Tavistock, Cllr David Whitcomb, said: 'Because of the pressure on mortgages in this economic situation, it is always good news that a group like Westward Housing Group can help provide affordable homes in this area and I wish them all success in the future.'
The homes form part of West Devon Borough Council, Westcountry Housing and the Homes and Communities Agency's response to the current housing crisis by providing top quality affordable accommodation for local people.
The £1.8m development was built by 3C Development Group, using their architect Nicholas Dean Practice. The HCA invested nearly £750,000 in the development.
Westcountry Housing chairman, Ian McDougall, said: 'We need more quality homes which people can afford in West Devon and the south west. This development in Tavistock shows Westcountry Housing's commitment to providing local homes for local people.'
This contemporary development with a twist consists of six, two bedroom houses, two, four bed houses, four, three bed houses, and two, one bed flats on the site have been rented through Devon Home Choice, the area's choice based lettings scheme.
