Five talented young musicians from Mount House School, Tavistock, were given a rare opportunity to learn from a virtuoso when internationally acclaimed concert pianist Viktor Bijelovic gave a master class at the school.
He was at Mount House to give a concert to raise funds for Parkinson's Disease Research, and took time out from his preparations to advise the children on how they might play even better.
The five pupils — Ellie Hayward, aged 13, William MacEacharn and Jamie Farrington, both 12, and Anthony Hayward and Izzy Kidner, both 11 — all play the piano to intermediate or advanced standard.
They play regularly in concerts and have won awards in competitive music events, including the Saltash Festival. Viktor listened to each one playing, then gave advice on how to improve their performances.
After the master class, Viktor gave an impromptu recital for the pupils and their parents, his chosen piece being the Chopin Waltz in C sharp minor, opus 32.
