I HAD thought it a universally accepted rule of our lives that for every action there is a reaction. Unfortunately, however, this inescapable fact seems to have passed your zealous traffic management people from the council by.
Example ? action; slap down double yellow lines, apparently at random and in this case on Plymouth Road just down from the statue and adjacent to the Spar shop in Ford Street ? reaction: all the dispossessed parkers of cars move their cars to Ford Road (by its junction with Spring Hill), result: Ford Street becomes, to all intents and purposes, a single carriageway over most of its length with no-one willing to give way and thence chaos!
Quite what the answer is I am not sure ? unless of course there is any yellow paint left over! Oh, and does anyone know why the new pedestrian crossing outside the garage on Plymouth Road ? you know, the one with the zig-zag ?no parking? lines painted across the entry and exit to the garage forecourt ? is not yet in use after all these weeks?
Are we waiting for an official opening by some minor celebrity or, distinctly possible, have they found that its location isn?t quite legal?
