NAN Phillipson from Leeze Park, Okehampton, had an early 100th birthday celebration on Sunday at Okehampton Golf Club, enjoying a marvellous Sunday lunch, shared with 35 friends and family.

She will be spending her actual birthday tomorrow (Friday) at home with friends and family, many of whom have travelled from around the Country.

In the near future, more members of the family will be coming from Graz, Austria and Chicago, United States.

Nan moved to the area some 35 years ago from Sunbury-on Thames, previously taking holidays in Okehampton and enjoying the friendliness of the town and open spaces of the moor.

She still regularly shops in town each week and often attends Ladies Probus meetings.

A former member of the WI, she still bakes teabread for the coffee mornings in aid of All Saints Church.
