IT IS with much sadness that NCH Action for Children will cease to manage the contract for the Open Door family centre in Okehampton at the end of May.

Since taking over the management of the Project in April 1988, NCH Action for Children has worked in partnership with Devon County Council to develop a range of Services for children and families in Okehampton and the surrounding area. From May this year we are exploring with Devon a variety of ways in which families who care for children with disabilities can receive support.

Over the years the project has offered a wide range of support to individual families and at different times has offered a toy library, nearly new clothing service, family workshops, child minders' support group, parenting groups, women's groups, family photograph sessions and, every summer, Kidstime (which last year offered places to 272 children).

NCH Action for Children would like to thank the staff who have offered such a valuable service over the years, the volunteers who have assisted in the running of it, the Open Door Support Group, the Methodist Church, and the many organisations and individuals who have sponsored and supported the work of the project.
