SHE'S sold everything from kitchen utensils to postage stamps, but after 13 years at Okehampton Pannier Market it's the end of an era for Win Willis.

Win is finally giving up her stall, where she has raised thousands of pounds for Okehampton Guides and Brownies, at the age of 81.

'I will miss it but it's time to call it a day,' said Win, who set up the fundraising stall when her daughter-in-law was guide leader.

For three days a week Win has been selling her wares in the market and has raised approximately £1,000 a year.

'All the money goes into the Guide hut and pays for the rent and rates,' she said. 'It's been very enjoyable and I have made lots of friends.'

Win said after some recent health problems she had decided to take things a little easier but will be back in the market as a customer to catch up on the gossip.

Ernie Daniel, who runs a fruit and veg stall, said Win would be greatly missed: 'She is a piece of the furniture really and always very helpful and kind to the other stallholders.'

Okehampton mayor Christine Marsh presented Win with a gift to mark her retirement.
