YELVERTON Tennis Club, situated on the War Memorial Field in Meavy Lane, provides three all-weather courts and a clubhouse, and has three ladies and two men?s teams in the Plymouth and District League.

As the new season starts members are looking to new chairman John Marshall and his committee to provide an exciting season of social and league tennis, as well as mixed friendly matches, inter-club tournaments and social events.

The first of the social events organised by the new committee was an indoor tennis evening at the New South Devon Tennis Centre at Ivybridge, a successful event enjoyed by all who attended.

The club has a thriving junior section and coaching for the juniors is available on a Saturday morning with club coach Roger Froud, who will also, by arrangement, coach adults on an individual or group basis.

Social club tennis ? just turn up ? is on a Wednesday and Friday evening from 6pm until dusk and on a Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm.

A ?Play Tennis Day? sponsored by the LTA is arranged for May 17 when anyone will be welcome to come and ?have a go?. More details will follow nearer the date.
