BEFORE the match got underway a minute's silence was held in respect to Xu Liu, the 16 year-old Chinese national student at Kelly College who sadly died in a road accident on Thursday evening.

Tavistock had a distinct advantage over Dart A, who were only able to bring 10 men.

The game started off slowly whilst Tavistock found their feet before some excellent passing allowed Josh Weber to hit the ball into the back of the Dart net. Nick Andrews then tapped the ball home to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams found it hard with the searing heat sapping the energy from the players and making it difficult to execute accurate passes and getting the ball to do the work.

The third goal coming from Hector Jourdan, a second from Nick Andrews and a fabulous reverse stick hit from Josh Reynolds to create a 5-0 victory.

This was a great start to the season and well done to all who played. Tavistock showed determination and team work to get a well earned victory. Man of the match was sweeper Kevin Lethbridge.
