WORK has finally started on the project to provide seven new mini soccer pitches in Tavistock's Crowndale Valley.
The Crowndale Recreational Association scheme, which attracted more than £20,000 worth of funding from the Football Association, will mean top quality playing surfaces for young soccer players next year.
John Warne, CRA chairman, said it was a 'great moment' to see the contractors on site.
Mr Warne said the CRA has raised thousands towards providing better sporting facilities for the town over the years.
He hoped its supporters would continue to do so in future, when he believed Crowndale could become a flagship project for the Football Association.
