A KEEN gardener living in sight of Brentor Church has received a special gift from the Tavistock Lions’ Club.

Derek Bissoni was having problems in tending to his garden — and following discussions with David Wright, his befriender from Tavistock Area Support Services, the Lions were approached to see if the club could be of assistance.

The Lions presented him with a raised trough, in which he is now growing some vegetables. The trough has saved Derek from strenuous work and is positioned close to his back door. In his working life, Derek was a high rise crane driver and his claim to fame is that he placed the last piece on the top of the Post Office tower in London in the mid 1960s.

Derek thanked the Lions for their generous donation.
