READING about the proposed expansion by Plastech near Gunnislake I was totally dismayed and disgusted by the so called RAID (Residents Against Industrial Development) and the comments of their spokesman, Mr Richard Harris.
If Mr Harris is a Cornishman he should hang his head in shame, for it is the enterprising business spirit of the Cornish people that made the Tamar Valley an industrial area (how does he think Gunnislake got its name?)
Do these people not realise this is already an industrial area, not some chocolate box retirement home for people who have made their money elsewhere?
Small business supports the whole backbone of the local economy, creating employment and generating spending that has a knock-on effect on the whole area.
Cornwall has an industrial past to be proud of, and hopefully an industrial future too.
If these people don't like living in a working area where enterprise is encouraged then there is a very simple answer!
