THANK you so much to everyone who helped publicise and promote our trip to Lundy Island in aid of Send a Cow which took place on Sunday, June 6. We had a really wonderful time ? in spite of thick fog throughout the day!
It did not seem to dampen anyone?s enthusiasm and the fact that it was very calm, warm and dry almost made up for not being able to see much in the way of a view!
The boat was full, the crossing calm and the island charming as always. We had a marvellous service in the island church where, in spite of there being no organ, the congregation from all sorts of church backgrounds, rose magnificently to the challenge and, wow, didn?t they sing!
A number of us went on guided wildlife walks with the island warden and his assistants. The rest just did their own thing, enjoyed hospitality in the pub or just explored.
We have raised just over £4,000 for Send a Cow, which is an absolutely fantastic result! David Bragg, their overseas development officer who was with us on the trip, told me that this would help around 28 families (and we are talking big families here) in a long-term and significant way.
It is really thrilling and I am most grateful to everyone who supported the venture in any way ? those who came, those who made generous donations and who helped in so many ways to encourage me and make it all work.
