Reference the adjournment of the town council meeting on Tuesday week (Times, October 29), regarding issues following a question from Mrs Comer on 'staff matters'.
As this was a question time, even if it had been a sensitive query it could be answered accordingly and diplomatically rather than causing mayhem and mistrust.

DO our elected town council members think they are not accountable to the general public when they open their meetings during public question time?
Why did they not respond to an innocent question from a respected former mayor, Marjorie Corner? Adjourning the meeting could be misconstrued by some thinking they have something to hide.
No subject should be off limits to the electorate, that is democracy.
