A BOOK of ?Prayers for Peace? has been opened in St James? Chapel, Okehampton.
Team Rector of the Okehampton and Northmoor Team, Rev Stephen Cook said it was there for anyone wanting to write in prayers, poems and the names of people they would like others to pray for ? especially those serving in the Gulf.
?Where appropriate the prayers will be included in the regular services at the church,? he said.
?My feeling is that what ever we feel about the conflict we are all in favour of peace. We all want it to be over quickly, with a minimum loss of life and the maximum benefit to the peace of the world and the welfare of the Iraqi people.?
Mr Cook said there was a need to pray for world leaders and for those who will have to fight.
?People have always wanted to pray in times of war ? and I am sure this will be no exception.?
St James is usually open during shop opening times.
