AT Plymouth Crown Court today (Friday) a Tavistock man has admitted burgling a house in Grenofen near Tavistock in March last year.

Mark Stephens, 51, pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of jewellery, an iPad, three watches, a wallet and cash from the property on March 25 last year.

The admission comes as Mr Stephens and his brother David Stephens, 53 and of Chillaton, await sentencing for burgling a man’s home armed with a knife in Buzzard Road, Tavistock a month after the Grenofen burglary.

Mark Stephens was convicted of GBH with intent and both brothers were found guilty of aggravated burglary by a jury in the same court on January 16.

The jury heard that the brothers broke into Gary Perkins’ flat in Buzzard Road, Tavistock on April 27 last year armed with a knife. While David Stephens searched the flat for money, stealing £150, Mark Stephens attacked occupant Gary Perkins with a knife. The victim was left with knife wounds to his stomach, a broken nose, a fractured cheekbone, dislodged teeth and bleeding to the brain.

The judge, Recorder Simon Levene, adjourned the case until Friday, May 18 when both brothers will be sentenced for all offences by video link pending the preparation of psychiatric reports. They are both currently on remand at Exeter Prison.
