DETECTIVES in Okehampton have seized a large quantity of Class A drugs worth an estimated street value of £50,000.

The officers from the Force Support Group located the drugs at addresses in Wonnacotts Road, Okehampton on Tuesday, March 13 — the drugs are suspected to be heroin.

Acting detective Sergeant Gavin Jordan said the drugs seizure was carried out whilst officers were investigating another crime and it was a great example of how response officers, community officers and CID from Okehampton along with specialist officers from Barnstaple worked together to achieve positive results.

‘This is a significant event in our ongoing effort to disrupt those people that choose to bring illegal drugs into our town and I would like to thank all the officers involved for working extended hours and also the local community for their support,’ he said.

Three people are helping police with enquiries following the incident.
