POLICE are appealing for information after an 81-year-old man was robbed at his home in Okehampton last Friday (January 19).

Between noon and 1pm the victim was at home in Saddlers Way off Hunters Gate in Okehampton when two men burst through his doorway.

Acting detective sergeant Gavin Jordan said: ‘The offenders began demanding cash from the victim and when he stood up to challenge them he was pushed back into his chair.’

The offenders stole the victim’s wallet containing cash, his mobile phone and landline phone. Police believe that the phones were stolen to prevent the victim from immediately contacting the police.

A/DS Jordan added: ‘Thankfully, the victim did not suffer any serious injuries as a result of this incident.’

The offenders are described as wearing hooded tops that covered their faces when they entered the victims home.

Investigating officers would be extremely keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed two men near to this location at around this time or who may have witnessed anything else that they consider to be suspicious.
