A THEFT from Okehampton Recycling Centre and a burglary from a home feature in this week’s crimes.

• A COPPER tank and batteries were stolen from Okehampton Recycling Centre between 5pm on Friday, 29 September and 9.30am on Saturday, September 30. CR084297

• POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle was vandalised in Lydford during the afternoon of Sunday, September 24. Offenders smashed the nearside rear passenger window of a red Hyundai parked opposite the Lydford Country House Hotel on School Road. CR/082443

• BURGLARS broke into a house in Macey’s Terrace, Okehampton sometime between 11.30pm and 1.30am on Friday to Saturday, September 20 to 21. The offenders walked in through an unlocked back door and stole a bottle filled with coins to the value of £800, a ladies’ purse containing £100 cash and three mobile phones. CR/083754

• POLICE have warned people to be on the alert for conmen in high visibility jackets who are targeting farms in the Moretonhampstead area. This follows a theft from a man working in fields beside Pepperton Hall Lane off the A382 between Moretonhampstead and Chagford on Monday, September 25 between 1pm and 1.15pm. He was approached by two offenders who asked to check that his pick up contained red diesel in its fuel tank, and then stole building materials from the truck. CR/082751

• A WOMAN came home after two weeks on holiday on Tuesday, September 26 to find that her car had been taken from her driveway in Broadpark, Okehampton. The car was located later in Kingsbridge. CR/083164
