THIS year may mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, but a local event is also celebrating a landmark anniversary in 2012.
This July will see the 750th anniversary of Winkleigh Fair, and the fair committee is already planning on how to make this year's fair the best yet.
Maxine Morpurgo, from the Winkleigh Fair committee said: 'This year is the 750th year of Winkleigh Fair. The fair committee want to put on the best possible fair for the village this year to celebrate this anniversary in July. This means we need to raise a lot of money to pay for it all.'
Last year's fair had many highlights, including friendly sports competitions, the village races, and the dog show.
The people of the village showed off their skills in a 'Winkleigh's Got Talent' show, and other got involved with the 'Wild Wild West' fancy dress competition.
The committee's first fundraising event of 2012 takes place on Saturday February 18, with a night of bingo in Winkleigh Village Hall. Doors open at 7.30pm with eyes down at 8pm. There will be a bar, tea and coffee, and cash prizes to be won.
All will be welcome, and all proceeds will go toward ensuring the landmark fair is the best yet.
